Pivot table shortcuts

Alt, N, V, T inserts a pivot table in Microsoft 365, Alt+F5 refreshes the active pivot, Ctrl+Alt+F5 refreshes everything in the workbook, Alt+Shift+Right Arrow groups selected items and Alt+Shift+Left Arrow ungroups them. Ctrl+A inside a pivot selects the whole pivot.

Syntax

`Alt+Down Arrow`	Open the filter dropdown of the selected header

Examples

Click a cell in the data > Alt, N, V, T > Enter

Result: A new sheet with an empty pivot and the field list open.

Select January, February, March labels > Alt+Shift+Right Arrow

Result: A new Group1 containing the three months; rename it Q1 by typing over the label.

Click inside the pivot > Ctrl+A > Ctrl+C > new sheet > Ctrl+Alt+V, V, Enter

Result: A static copy of the whole pivot pasted as values.

Common mistakes

Alt+F5 does nothing: the cursor is outside the pivot, so click a pivot cell first.
Alt, N, V opens a menu instead of the dialog: in Microsoft 365 the key sequence gained a T at the end.
The field list keeps disappearing: toggle it with Alt, J, T, L or from PivotTable Analyze, Field List.
